Production Run
[edit]It states the production run was 1968–1972, but that simply isn't true. I have a 1992 300SEL. I cant find any information on my car on wikipedia (although there are pics of the 1992 300SEL on the internet). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.43.167.230 (talk) 11:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Reason your car is a 300SEL from the 1980's, series W126, this is a W109 series from the 1960's. These cars bore the same badge, yet W109 had a 6.3 litre badge as well. This is a V8, yours is a 6 cylinder. Read up on Mercedes model badging desigation to understand understand further what the numbers and letters refer to- they all follow a similar format —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.153.176.28 (talk) 12:31, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Are these figure really correct for a car of this age?
0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds?
Standing 400m in 14 second bracket?
Also is 184kW of power correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.159.167.84 (talk) 12:07, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Tone
[edit]The tone of this article should be more encyclopedic, and less akin to an advertisement or fan website.
6.3 redirect
[edit]I made it so that when you type "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.3" into the address bar, it redirects here. if anyone has problems with this, leave a comment either below or at the said page[1]. --08:44, 10 February 2010 (UTC)ATJS144 (talk)
working on a 300SEL
[edit]My dad had an early 300SEL that was imported used from Germany. I did the maintenance on it. I bought two shop manuals, one for the 300 sedan and one for the 600 limo. I needed the 600 shop manual for the engine. The car had a mechanical fuel injector. To adjust the fuel injector, I had to stand next to the fender facing forward, place my hand down between the engine and the inside fender, turn away from the car so my hand could curl up to turn the knurl knob. There was almost no room around the engine. In general it was difficult to work on. Some of the Zerk points were completely hidden and needed a long bent grease gun extension. The oil pan was so strong, I could use a floor jack on it to lift the front of the car.
Going down the Interstate you could do 120 without realizing you were speeding. Saltysailor (talk) 17:33, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
